If you're like me, you love having all your vehicle’s critical information right at your fingertips. The ScanGauge 3 monitor is an incredible tool for monitoring everything from fuel efficiency to engine performance. But, as with any tech device, keeping it safe from accidental bumps, dust buildup, and potential theft is essential. That’s where a custom 3D-printed flip cover comes in.
Why a Flip Cover?
While the ScanGauge 3 is durable, adding an extra layer of protection is always a smart move, especially if you're frequently on the road. Whether you're into RVing, off-roading, or daily commuting, your dashboard can be a busy space. A flip cover can protect the screen from scratches, sun glare, dust, and—importantly—help deter theft.
Theft Deterrent: Out of Sight, Out of Mind
One of the major advantages of a flip cover is its ability to obscure what's behind it. Thieves often target gadgets that are visible from outside the vehicle, like monitors and GPS devices. The sleek display of the ScanGauge 3 can easily catch the attention of someone looking for an easy grab. By covering the monitor with a simple 3D-printed flip cover, you eliminate its visibility, leaving thieves clueless about what's behind it. In most cases, if they can’t see anything valuable, they’ll move on. The cover creates a clean, unassuming look that reduces the risk of a break-in.
Feel free to use the 3D print file I designed for personal use; however, commercial use is prohibited.

The 3D print consists of two parts: the device mount plate and the flip cover. Use double-sided tape to secure the ScanGauge to the baseplate. I recommend using this tape, available on Amazon: 300SLE Double Sided Tape Heavy Duty.
Here is a short video of the flip cover, enjoy!
